Finally I have bitten the bullet – I am going back to work in a “normal” job!

The big news is that I will be starting work next Tuesday! I am looking forward to it but I am also a little apprehensive! I havent worked in Ireland for so long I am sure it will take me some time to ease myself back into it! Or perhaps, jumping right in at the deep end would be a better way to go. Anyway time will tell.

I am not looking forward to the daily commute and the daily grind but it has to be done! I reckon it shouldnt take me too long to get there in the mornings but after all I have heard about the rush hour traffic I fear the worst. In Bangkok I lived very close to work and the commute was no more than 15 minutes!!! Now that is quality of life!!! Although, towards the end I did enjoy getting stuck in traffic cause it gave me time to myself – chill out time! I took the Thai attitude and just didnt get upset about the little things – especially the things that you have no control over!

Fianna Fail(ure) and Bertie are trying to form the next government. They should have the numbers to do it but Fine Gael are still not giving up hope! Mathematically it is possible that they will be elected but realistically it is a remote prospect!

I think there will be further revelations at the Mahon Tribunal and that this will put extreme pressure on Bertie.

I am predicting 2 possible scenarios:

  1. Bertie resigns as leader of Fianna Fail either now or in the next 6 months and Brian Cowen takes over.
  2. No one will be able to form a government and we will have another election!
I think there will be a lot of uncertainty over the next while and this is not good timing as the economy starts to wobble a bit! I think we are heading for a recession – and we better batten down the hatches!

{tab=Sport}

United are on a buying spree at the moment which is brilliant! They seem to be getting some good young talent in! ALthough rumours about Anelka coming to United are a little worrying! I dont really rate him that highly. I would prefer that he signed Berbatov from Spurs!

Ireland are playing rugby internationals in Argentina but I think it is a bit of a waste of time as most of the players are just on the fringes of the main team! Would be nice for a win though!

The GAA season has started and there has been a few punch-ups already which makes it xciting – it is always good for publicity!

www.cha-cha-am.com is starting to take hold. I havent been promoting it yet but already I have quite an active forum! It is worth checking out! Also, if you would like to contribute I am always looking for help!

I have also been working on other web projects and these are starting to take shape too! There is big possibilities here and I will be spending my spare time trying to get these off the ground.

The main thing that strikes me here is that the prices for all techie related jobs are really high! I dont think the Irish are taking full advantage of the global opportunities! I think a lot of the work could be outsourced to cheaper countries for development but I dont think people are willing to take that risk! But if it is managed properly it is not really a risk! This is something that I hope to be able to work on more myself with my IT contacts in THailand!

Skype is still brilliant! Although recently the SkypeOUT has been performing quite poorly. I dont know the reason for this but normal Skype to Skype calls are still top notch!

Was at a party in my brothers house last night! I couldnt believe the number of foreigners there! So many different accents and languages – a big change from parties 6 years ago! It has been interesting analysing peoples attitudes to the immigration. Most Irish people are positive towards it but I am not sure if they are just being politically correct! I think there is an underlying feeling that people are a little worried that the numbers are getting too high too fast! I must say that I agree.

Now dont get me wrong! I am all for immigration, multi cultural society etc etc but I think it needs to be managed properly. I think the changes are happening too fast for anyone to be able to take it on board fully! It all appears to be going well now but as the economy starts to shake then people will start looking for someone to blame and the easy targets are the immigrants!! That is exactly what has happened in THailand – and look what mess that left! Foreigners felt like they were being run out of the country!

There is no easy solution but I think it is definitely something that should be discussed more openly! Its good to talk!

I am a humble man! blah da be blah!

Its getting tough to write the end of these!

So i’ll keep it simple

THE END!
