I knew that it wouldn't be easy to settle back into things here but i didnt think it would be this difficult!
I am going through reverse culture shock - whatever that is - but it isnt nice!
I'm Irish but I dont feel Irish anymore.  I have a different attitude and a different way of looking at things.  Neither way is wrong and neither way is right but it all just feels strange to me now.
I went to Tesco the other day to buy some food.  At the checkout I had to pay the guy and he was Polish or something.  His English was minimal but he thought I was weird.  I had an Irish accent but I was messing around with the coins seeing what was what!  I aint even used to the Euros!
Things have changed here.  Definitely more immigrants.  Thats good as long as it is controlled and by all accounts it is not being controlled.  I have no problem with anyone coming here as long as they are working and making a contribution.  Its the ones who just claim social welfare that should be kicked out.
I have started my job search too which is great crack - NOT!  I even received my first PFO - i'm sure that folder in my Outlook will increase over the next few weeks.  I also think that most of the jobs are fake and that they are just a bait for potential candidates.  But thats the way the system works so who am I to change all that?
I reckon my best opportunity is to get an introduction through people I know.  Time will tell.  I am not in any real hurry as I still have to sort through deails of where to live and also my container from THailand will be arriving in a few weeks too!
The weather here is really crap and its crazy that people are saying that the weather is great recently.  I suppose its all down to what you are used to!  And I am used to sun and heat!
I will survive - I think!
